How To Severe Unhealthy Psychic Connections

We live in a world of connections. As people we are connected to each other based on our very humanity, but also in more subtle, etheric ways. Whenever we interact with anybody we form psychic connections that can leave something like an imprint on us. The imprint can have a benign or neutral effect, or it could have a positive or negative impact.

The positive imprints leave us with good feelings about someone, and usually will make us feel good about ourselves. They nurture our well-being and inspire feelings of levity, joy and love.

The negative ones do the opposite; they will leave us feeling confused, angry, or even just depleted energetically. These are the psychic vampires and they can continue to suck your energy for years, toxifying your life without you even knowing it, until and unless you learn how to manage that energy.

Types of Toxic Relationships

Unhealthy relationships are the ones that are stuck in cycles of conflict. They are characterized by blaming, constant fighting or verbal or physical abuse on the extreme end. All of this constitutes power struggling where one or both people feel their needs are not being met by the relationship.

It can be relationships of any type including:

  • family relationships
  • love relationships
  • friendships
  • business or work relationships

The roots of the cause are deep and many, and usually anchored somewhere in the current lifetime of both individuals (although it’s possible that these relationships are karmic in that they are trying to overcome lifetimes of unhealthy patterns).

Sometimes you hit a wall and can go no further in changing the pattern of the relationship and removing yourself from it is enough to end the cycle and clear your psychic “space,” restoring balance to your life (assuming it was balanced previous to the relationship). This is particularly true in relationships less personal in nature, like with a boss or other business associate. But it is the closer relationships that tend to have the deeper karmic connections and thus the most profound energetic impact.

Energy Cords

Even long after a relationship ends it can continue to keep you mired in thought patterns that perpetuate the leaking of psychic energy. It can even continue after a person’s death if they had not let go after their passing and moved on to the next realm. The connections can be visualized as cords that join two people at the chakra level, often at the navel area.

Some people gifted with the ability to see auras and energy bodies see these cords as gold or silver colored lines similar to umbilical cords.

In a healthy relationship these cords are the lifeline between two people, feeding them with a constant give-and-take of loving, supportive energy. In toxic relationships it is a conduit more akin to a vacuum that only sucks the life force from you (known by the Chinese as “chi” and by the Indian Vedic tradition as “prana”). It can interfere with every aspect of your life, causing emotional turmoil, mental cloudiness addictions; a scenario for overall psychic imbalance.

The restoration of balance can be accomplished in many ways including:

  • talk therapy
  • herbal therapy
  • bodywork
  • Reiki

But sometimes it is necessary to cut the cord between you and someone else when it continues to be a source of negativity in your life.

Ways to Cut the Cords

Severing dysfunctional psychic cords is something you can do yourself through meditation and/or powerful visualization. The important thing to realize is that these unhealthy psychic connections are often unconscious, which means that you must be willing to sever the connection. It’s helpful to know how to go into a deep meditative state and you can use any visualization technique you like, but the main thing is to see yourself either cutting the cord or pulling it loose from your own energy body. Do it as often as necessary until you feel yourself free from its gravity. And remember to trust your own intuition!

Sometimes the psychic cords are so deeply entrenched that you need help disconnecting. A trained energy healer or someone trained in shamanic techniques can help. Different traditions rely on different methods and can employ powerful rituals or implements that work on the subtle level, such as the burning of some types of plants like sage or other substances, or the use of other power objects from the natural world.

In the case of a stubborn toxic connection with someone who has crossed over to the spirit realm and is continuing to haunt your life, a true shamanic healer who has the ability to communicate with the other side may be necessary. Never doubt that it is possible to be “followed around” like this but that you can do something about it.

Psychometry: The Ability To Read An Object Through Touch

psychometryThe ability to read an object through touch is called Psychometry. It is also known as token-object reading and psychoscopy.

Have you ever held an object and just ‘known’ things about it? Has the power of an object’s history washed over you as you’ve rolled it between your fingers? If so, there is a strong chance that you possess the psychic ability of psychometry.

The Rules of Psychometry

Psychometrics is thought to be the art of the human mind tapping into an objects own energy field, aura, soul or experiential vibrations. The chosen object transfers images and feelings regarding its history to the holder, but can also portray tastes, smells, sounds and even emotions to the more skilled or susceptible reader. Some experts believe that psychometry is simply an alternate form of clairvoyance, where a reader can glean strong psychic impressions that have been left behind by an object’s previous owner; whereas others believe that psychometry is actually controlled by outside forces such as spiritual beings or angels.

The art of psychometry is a form of scrying, the medium through which a psychic can “see” something that is not readily available to the untrained human mind. Scrying is commonly done using a crystal ball, dark glass or the calm surface of a body of water and it is believed that psychometry is one of the only forms of scrying that involves touch. Some objects will hold greater information than others and those steeped in history or that have been present during extreme circumstances seem to be the more useful objects when being held for a psychometric reading.

When is Psychometry Used?

Most of the time psychometry is used as an entertainment tool at fairs and fetes across the world. Many people with the ability use their gift to help people gain a better understanding of the origins of something they own, or answers to questions such as why an heirloom was passed on to them. There is a common misconception that psychometry has been used to solve murder cases. There have been recorded cases where a clairvoyant has held a murder weapon or item of clothing from a missing person and pointed the police in the right direction, but in general this is not a method of investigation that police utilize publicly, or very often.

Can Anybody Use Psychometry?

In theory, yes; there is no harm in trying psychometry and you may find that you have an inherent talent for it, even if you don’t class yourself as psychic in any way.

The best possible way to try to tap into psychometrics is to sit in a relaxed position in a quiet, distraction free area. Close your eyes and rest your hands on your lap, facing your palms upwards. If you are alone, settle down with the object in your hands, but if you are part of a group, get someone to pass you the object discreetly (it’s best if you don’t know who the person is). Be still and let any impressions flow into your mind. Say any images or feelings aloud as they appear to reduce the interference of conscious thought. Don’t try to think about the impressions that you get, simply state them and move on.

One of the most important things to remember when using psychometry is not to judge the impressions you get yourself, if reading an object that belongs to someone else. This is because the impressions are likely to hold significance to the owner that you will not be privy to. As you practice and become more skilled, follow and expand upon the impressions that you get as there may be more information hidden in the background of what you initially see.

The beauty of psychometry is in the personal engagement of the seeker. An ability to enrich the view of someone’s life or past experiences can be invaluable to both the proponent and the reader.

4 Types of Psychic Practices That You May Have Never Heard Of

shamanismThroughout human history and in virtually every culture on the planet, people have sought to exceed the boundaries of the physical realm.  Although our human brains limit our perceptual abilities, there have always been people who are able to see beyond their physical senses.  In many cultures, the ability to interact with the unseen world is considered sacred and there is a blurring of the lines between the sacred and the mundane. The terms we use to describe “psychic” phenomenon are thus less meaningful in these contexts. The phenomena are simply contributing elements in a continuum of life’s available experiences.

While there are many, many types of cultural psychic practices, we will focus on a few broad categories.

Shamanism

The term “shamanism” refers in an academic sense to an animistic belief system practiced largely by indigenous peoples.  There is no one definable shamanistic practice as it varies from culture to culture, but there are common traits among various groups.  In general, a shaman is someone who is able to communicate with energies and beings in the spirit world.

Often called “medicine people” or “holy people,” shamans are intermediaries between the known world and the unknown.  Characteristics of shamanism include going into trance states in order to receive and communicate information meant for an individual or an entire group and the use of other techniques for physical and spiritual healing.

Curanderos

Curanderos (Spanish for “healer”) are similar to shamans and are found in Latin American indigenous and folk cultures.  They often blend indigenous healing methods with Christian belief systems and practices and appeal to spirits and other unseen entities.  They also use plants and rituals to heal and guide their patients.  Curanderos are sometimes called witches because they have the ability to remove or apply curses or spells when their patients ask them to.

Oracles

Similar to shamans, oracles are people who possess the ability to interact with the gods or deities on behalf of a community or individual person.  But it can also be an agency of another sort such as a system or even a text that is used for divination.  The term “oracle” is associated with many cultures both ancient and contemporary, and dates back to ancient Greece and Egypt.

China

An example of an oracle as a system is the Chinese I Ching. With the I Ching, coins are cast and the patterns (called hexagrams) they display are referenced in the I Ching text known as “The Book of Changes.”  Astrology is another form of an oracle in China.

Tibet

Among ancient oracular traditions that are still practiced today is the Nechung Oracle. The Nechung Oracle plays an important role in religious and even governmental decision making (historically, Tibet is a theocracy with its roots in Buddhism).  In Tibetan Buddhism the oracle refers to a spirit or deity who is consulted through a channel who accesses the oracle while in a trance state to gain guidance and wisdom.

Orishas

Santeria is a religion that originates from the Yoruba people of Western Africa and migrated with the slave trade to the New World. It has taken numerous forms and names in various countries, but has gained most of its notoriety in the Caribbean and present day Cuba (where it is sometimes known as Vodun, and where “voodoo” comes from, although voodoo in its popular articulation as witchcraft is a common misnomer).

The name “Santeria” derives from the encounter between African slaves and Catholicism in which the spirits – known as Orisha—became known as saints, or “santeros” in Spanish. In Santeria, the Orishas are spirits or manifestations of the god Oludumare that are contacted for help with human life. Priests and priestesses contact the Orishas through elaborate drumming and trance dancing rituals where the Orishas enter the bodies of the dancers.

Aura Colors and Their Meanings Explained

energy fieldAn aura is the unique energy field that surrounds every living being on earth. Those that are lucky enough to be able to see auras report the phenomena as being one of the most pleasant psychic abilities there is. When a psychic can see an aura, he/she can see multiple layers of color that reflect the feelings of the person it surrounds. An aura is not necessarily limited to a human being either; animals and plants can also posses the special glow.

The ability to read auras is thought to be as old as mankind. Some experts believe that we have simply forgotten the art of seeing them over the long distance of time, due to the fact that we’ve gradually lost touch with nature. Others believe that, along with all psychic abilities, some people are just born with it. The truth is that anyone can naturally see auras to some extent; it is more of a skill that needs to be recognized and honed, than learned from scratch.

What is an Aura and how do you read it?

An aura is a hard energy field to pin down! An aura is thought to be a personal spiritual signature, but exactly what it is seems to depend on what side of spiritual belief you place yourself on. If you generally believe that everything in the universe has a particular vibration and that those individual vibrations can be tuned into, then an aura could be defined as “an electro-photonic vibration that responds to an object of external excitation”.  If you generally believe in the more traditional ideals of the ability to connect with energies and entities beyond ourselves, then an aura may be defined as one’s own psychic beacon, energy in which we naturally project into the universe in order to connect with it.

Aura reading is simply someone tapping into the open information around the entity in question.

No matter what you believe an aura to be, the information contained within the entity is projected from the entity and therefore can be read to gain a better understanding of the entity.  Reading an aura allows a person to see what is truly within someone else; to hear their thoughts and recognize their intentions. An aura reading can even be used to diagnose both short-term and long-term ailments.

What do the colors of the Aura mean?

Anyone with the ability to see auras will tell you that it is not necessarily the specific color that indicates a positive or negative state of being, but the particular shade of the color; pastel and softer shades indicate a more positive attribute whereas murkier, darker shades indicate a more negative attribute.

RED:

Red generally indicates personality and the higher aspect of both sexuality and love. Negative (or darker shades of) red may signify anger, a strong drive to succeed or an unbalance in love and sexuality.

ORANGE:

Orange generally denotes both creativity and regeneration within an individual. Positive (or vibrant) orange may indicate thoughtfulness and consideration. Negative shades may indicate aggression.

YELLOW:

Yellow indicates intellect. When yellow is murky and blended it may indicate the person’s ability to use the power of the mind negatively. If yellow is blended with green, it may indicate resentment or jealousy.

GREEN:

Green is the color of the soul. When green is murky, it indicates jealously, possessiveness and selfishness. If green emanates from the head, it signifies individuality, identity and compassion.

BLUE:

Blue indicates spirituality. Negative shades of blue indicate martyrdom and melancholy, but the presence of blue is generally seen as positive.

VIOLET:

Violet denotes selfless love and spirituality. Violet is generally only seen within someone who has made a commitment to spirituality or charitable and humanitarian causes.

BLACK:

Black indicates the absence of life. When seen as a shadow, black indicates blockages and when it is found as solid black, it signifies extreme negativity.

WHITE:

White indicates perfect balance and harmony. It is the purest, most spiritual color there is within aura reading. White is always seen emanating from the top of the head.

When Is It Time To Visit A Psychic?

psychic ladyFor many people, seeing a psychic is a one-time bucket list item that is indulged in while on vacation or having a party. Many bachelorette parties have trooped into their local palm reader’s shop to spend an evening celebrating a final night of freedom. But for others, visiting a psychic is as serious an occasion as seeing a doctor. Visitors seek out palm readers, tarot interpreters, mediums, or psychics of other nature to offer them healing, guidance, or advice.

But how do you know when it’s time to see a psychic? With a doctor of medicine, painful symptoms or reduced health can be great clues to make an appointment. Here are some signs that you may need to schedule yourself some time with your psychic advisor:

  1. A major change has recently happened.

If you frequent the psychic’s office, studio, or shop more than a few times a year, you may want to consider staying home if nothing has really changed in your life recently. For most people, it would be a waste of money and time to see a psychic for guidance or advice if you are in the same career, the same relationship, the same general state of mental and physical health, or have experienced no other major change.

Additionally, if you’ve visited a psychic for the same topic more than once, it may be time to let a natural course unfold. For example, if you’ve been single for many years, and have visited a psychic about this situation on multiple occasions, you likely won’t hear anything new if you ask about your love life again. You know the situation, and anything holding you back in the situation, and you’ve heard all that your psychic can tell you about it.

  1. You know why you are visiting a psychic.

While there is certainly something to be said for visiting a new psychic with an open mind and no expectations, future visits will be most helpful if you have a reason to visit. Remember that too-specific questions don’t often work for tarot readings or palm readings (“On what day next month will I meet my soul mate?”) General questions focused on you and your own behavior are best. (“What can I do to attract more positive people into my life so that I might meet my soul mate?”)

Your reason doesn’t need to be very specific. You may want to receive understanding and validation for a recent feeling; obtain insight into a new situation; receive guidance on a major decision; or simply gain a better understanding of your path in life. In any case, having a general idea of your focus means that you’re ready to visit a psychic.

  1. You have identified the right type of psychic service.

Just as you wouldn’t go to a dermatologist when you need an appendix removed, you should not assume that all psychics are the same. If you are wondering if it’s time to visit a psychic, take some time to find the right kind of service. A medium, for example, is a psychic who has some connection or ability to communicate with those who have passed on. Tarot cards and palm reading can be used to find new ways to approach situations or problems.

  1. You feel comfortable with the decision to see a psychic.

Visiting a psychic is often like seeing a therapist. Though you may not reveal any personal information about yourself, and the psychic may only offer you a few guiding phrases or words as they read tarot symbols or perform other techniques, you will be going through a great revelation inside yourself. Behaviors, situations, and new paths will become clear to you based on what the psychic shares. You may leave feeling as though you’ve just had an intense therapy session.

For this reason, it’s important to feel comfortable before you visit a psychic. You should be relaxed and ready to accept any revelations that come through the psychic. Some psychics may have trouble giving a reading if you are too tense or nervous, so it’s in everyone’s best interest that you take the time to become calm about the visit.

How Often Should You Visit a Psychic?

All psychics will have a different opinion on this question. Some insist that once or twice a year is plenty, while others open their doors to the same clients every week. If you’ve gone through the four questions above and believe you are ready for a psychic reading, don’t hold yourself back from seeking out help and guidance.

Top 4 Problems Beginners Face in Meditation

meditationThe practice of meditation goes far beyond the connection to the spiritual and religious. Science and medicine have measured the effects of meditation on the brain, and consider it to be one of the best activities a person can do to naturally relieve anxiety, improve mental concentration, and even help with feelings of pain. But if you’ve never tried to meditate before, you can run into some problems when you first begin. These X problems are commonly experienced by beginners, and here’s how you can overcome them.

  1. You just can’t stop thinking.

This is the number one complaint that beginners give when asked why they aren’t continuing their meditation practice. You sit down into a comfortable position, take a few calming breaths, and then…a grocery list flits into your head, reminding you that you’ve been out of oatmeal for weeks. Maybe you suddenly realize that you forgot to clock out at work, or you recall an old memory out of the blue. Whatever it is, your brain just will not “be quiet” for your meditation time.

One of the reasons that this is commonly reported is because people have been falsely led to believe that they are supposed to have a totally empty mind during meditation. But in fact, your brain can never truly be silent. Instead, the goal is to become an impartial observer of your own thoughts, developing an awareness of the fact that you are thinking, and allowing each thought to naturally drift away. For beginners, focus on counting your breathing, or chanting a simple mantra, to teach the mind to be still for longer periods.

  1. You fall asleep during meditation.

This is another common obstacle that beginner’s face when starting a meditation practice. With such busy lives that are constantly filled with stimuli (from the TV, our phones, the radio, visual advertisements, etc.), taking a moment to seek out a quiet space can be a signal to the brain to get some well-deserved rest. If you find yourself nodding off during meditation, only to jerk awake again a moment later, you aren’t alone.

But if you are trying to use meditation to improve your mental abilities and reduce stress, you’ll probably want to start staying awake for your sessions. Practice focusing on your posture more, and don’t meditate in bed or surrounded by pillows. Try walking meditation to keep your body alert, or change the temperature of the room so that your body isn’t comfortable enough to fall asleep.

  1. Meditation is uncomfortable or physically painful.

If you aren’t accustomed to kneeling or sitting in a cross-legged position for any length of time, then you’ve likely experienced this one: you prepare yourself for a classic session of meditation, placing your hands palm-up on your bent knees, and take a breath…till your knees begin to cramp or you feel painful tingling in your legs.

The fact is that meditation can be done in many postures, not just the yogi pretzel position. The most important factor is that you are sitting or standing with good posture. This is important because it allows the body to breathe deeply and fully, which is a key part of meditation. Use a rolled up towel or blanket under your bottom if you find it hard to sit on the floor, or simply sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor.

  1. Nothing “happened”.

If you’ve ever walked away from a meditation session wondering if you’ve just wasted 10 minutes because you don’t feel any different, then you understand this common complaint. It’s not unusual to feel as though nothing was really accomplished after sitting still for a few minutes.

However, it’s important to remember that there is no “success” or “failure” in meditation. There’s no specific way that you should feel when you’re done. If you don’t feel refreshed or energized, you didn’t do it wrong. Just like it’s hard to notice any improvement when learning to play an instrument for the first time, meditation takes time to see any of the benefits. Your mental acuity, happiness, calm, and so on, will improve as you work your brain muscle more.

Not Just Beginners

Finally, always remember that these complaints aren’t just obstacles faced by beginners. Meditation practices can have ups and downs, especially as our lives change and develop. Even seasoned meditation pros can experience any of these common problems during their practice.

Just as with the pains of the body and the uncomfortable sensations of the mind when first beginning, it’s important to approach every mediation session with a complete lack of judgment or expectation.

Understanding Crystal Healing: The Most Beautiful Medicine

crystal healingAs far back as the ancient Sumerians, crystals have been used for their healing abilities. While today’s science can’t always explain precisely why or how crystals work, those who have experienced healing after being treated with crystals can’t deny that there are real affects that can improve the mental, emotional, and even physical health.

Everything is Energy

To understand why and how crystals can heal the body, mind, or spirit, the first thing that you must do is begin thinking of everything in terms of energy. Our bodies are made of energy. Our thoughts are created by energy, moving through the neurons in our brains. Everything that we feel, sense, and experience is a form of energy. And because energy moves, that means that it can be both in harmony and not in harmony.

Energy in Harmony

The way that energy moves means that it is constantly interacting with other energy. The energy from one part of our body interacts with the energy of another part; our bodies interact with the energy of the world around us; and so on. If this energy is interacting in harmony, then we are balanced and feel healthy and at ease. If there is an imbalance, and energy is not in harmony, then we feel unhealthy. Those who use crystals in healing believe that nature is always striving towards a state of harmony, and will heal itself if it can.

This is where crystals come in. Certain crystals radiate specific energy that can help bring an imbalance of energy back into harmony. Simply by being physically near the crystal, the vibrations, or energy, of the crystal will do wonders for any part of our body, mind, or spirit that is imbalanced.

Crystals and Their Uses

There are many different crystals, and those who use them for healing often choose them based on very personal reasons and needs. No one’s crystal collection will look the same; however, here are some of the most commonly used crystals and what they can be used to heal:

  • Rose Quartz: A hard pink gemstone, rose quartz has a very calming, gentle type of energy. It is often considered a stone of love, and is used to promote a sense of nurturing, compassionate energy.
  • Aventurine: Usually green in color, this type of quartz can improve vitality of any sort. If your health, finances, love life, confidence, or friendships need a boost of vitality, this is one of the most common stones to use.
  • Amethyst: Another quartz, this crystal comes in all colors; it is most commonly seen in a shade of purple. This stone is considered to have a very purifying energy, helping to relieve toxic energies. It is commonly used to heal the body and mind of addictions.
  • Tourmaline: This multi-hued crystal can be harder to find, but it is considered to have grounding energy. If you feel the need to protect your mind from anxiety or other negative emotions, this crystal can be carried for protection.
  • Citrine: A bright and positive crystal that comes in beautiful yellow or orange colors, this gemstone is often used to imbue a person with a happy outlook and an optimistic energy.
  • Jade: Jade is frequently used to treat PTSD, but it also great for enhancing feelings of generosity. This hard stone comes in shades of green that range from light blue-green to a deep, intense green.

How to Apply Crystals

Once the right crystal has been chosen for the particular issue, the next step is how the crystal is used. Many people simply carry the crystal with them, in their pocket, or as part of their jewelry. Healing crystals can be as small as a fingertip, or very large, depending on personal choice and the severity of the issue.

Others choose to place crystals in their home or working space. Crystals meant to reduce anxiety and induce calm can be placed in a bedroom to help with sleeping disorders, for example. Crystals meant to improve positivity and energy levels may be placed on an office desk to make the work day a little easier to get through.

Others may apply crystals to the chakras, or the specific zones of the body that align with the issue that they are attempting to treat. If their problem revolves around their relationships and emotions, they may choose to wear a rose quartz pendant near their heart chakra, for example.

By allowing these crystals to replace the energy of a space with their own specific energies, a person can heal themselves of a wide variety of illnesses and conditions.
